Prediction markets price events in cents, not odds. Here is the vocabulary used on this page, in plain English.

Price = probability
A contract that pays $1 trading at 12¢ means the market thinks there's a 12% chance.
YES / NO share
YES pays $1 if it happens. NO pays $1 if it doesn't. You can never lose more than you paid.
Implied chance
Just the price read as a percentage. A contract at 14¢ implies a 14% chance.
Vig
A built-in margin some venues charge. On prediction markets you pay the spread and fees instead.
Liquidity
How much money is in the market. More money means you can get in and out at the price you see.

ProphetX is the sports specialist of the prediction-market group. It got CFTC approval in June 2026 as both a designated contract market and a clearing organization — meaning it lists, clears and settles its own contracts — and launched nationwide days later. If you only care about college football and college basketball, it is the most focused venue we cover.

What ProphetX actually is

Every contract on ProphetX is a yes/no claim about a sporting outcome that settles at $1 or $0. You either take an existing price or post your own and wait for someone to match it. Because both sides are traders, the price is set by supply and demand rather than by a house that needs a margin. That is the core difference from a sportsbook.

Fees

ProphetX charges roughly 2% on net winnings in a market. Losing trades and unmatched orders cost nothing. Compare that with Kalshi's per-trade fee, which peaks near a coin flip, and with Polymarket's zero trading fees plus on-ramp costs. On a small account, the biggest cost is usually not the fee — it is a wide spread in a thin market.

College markets

College football and college basketball sit next to the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, soccer, tennis, golf and combat sports. Big Saturday games fill instantly; a niche player market can take time to match. For conference and award markets, our college football hub tracks what is live where.

Deposits, withdrawals, apps

  • Minimum deposit: $10.
  • Funding: online banking via Aeropay, wire, or crypto via Zero Hash.
  • Withdrawals: instant to a few days on Aeropay; wires up to 72 hours.
  • Apps: iOS and Android — it is a mobile-first product.

Where it is available

49 states plus Washington, D.C. Nevada is the exclusion. Full list and per-state detail on our ProphetX state availability page.

Who it suits — and who it doesn't

Good fit: you follow college sports closely, you want peer-to-peer pricing without a house margin, and you're happy trading on a phone. Bad fit: you want admissions, election or culture markets — ProphetX doesn't list them, and Polymarket or Kalshi do.

Verdict

For college sports specifically, ProphetX is the cleanest structure we've reviewed: real regulation, no house margin, a small fee that only applies when you win. The trade-off is range — it does one thing. Deep liquidity on marquee games, thinner everywhere else. Open ProphetX with code COLLEGEPM or read how to place your first trade first.

A contract settles at $1 if the event happens and $0 if it doesn't, so the price is the market's probability. Every contract you buy at this price pays $1 — the cheaper the price, the less likely the market thinks it is.

Your first trade, step by step

  1. Fund a small balanceOpen an account, verify your ID, and deposit $10–$20 by debit or ACH. You must be 18+ and in an eligible state.
  2. Find the marketSearch the event by team, player or headline. Check the price and the volume — thin markets move a lot on small orders.
  3. Read the price as a probabilityA 23¢ YES contract means the market gives it about a 23% chance. If you think it is higher than that, YES is the value side.
  4. Place a limit orderEnter the price you want rather than taking the market. You buy shares, not a bet slip — the most you can lose is what you paid.
  5. Decide your exitYou can sell any time before the event resolves, or hold to settlement where each winning share pays $1.

Ready to try it: open ProphetX. 18+, eligible states only. Trade what you can afford to lose.

Frequently asked questions

Is ProphetX a prediction market or a sportsbook?

A prediction market. ProphetX is a CFTC-approved designated contract market that lists sports event contracts. You trade contracts with other users at prices they set, rather than taking a fixed line from a house.

What does ProphetX charge?

About 2% commission on net winnings in a market. There is no charge on losing trades or on orders that never match, and no margin baked into the price the way a sportsbook builds one in.

Where is ProphetX available?

ProphetX went nationwide after its June 2026 CFTC approval and is live in 49 states plus Washington, D.C. Nevada is excluded. Location is checked by geolocation at sign-up.

Does ProphetX have college markets?

Yes — college football and college basketball are core categories, alongside the pro leagues. It is sports only, so there are no admissions, politics or pop-culture markets.

Is ProphetX still a sweepstakes app?

No. Prophet Points and Prophet Cash belonged to the old model, which was retired after the CFTC approval in June 2026. Today it is a real-money regulated exchange.

How do I get the ProphetX bonus?

Sign up through our link, enter code COLLEGEPM, and deposit $10. The $20 in trading credit posts once your deposit clears and verification is complete.

What does the price actually mean?

A contract settles at $1 if the event happens and $0 if it doesn't, so the price is the market's probability. A contract at 23¢ means roughly a 23% chance, and $1 buys about 4.3 shares.

How much money do I need to start?

You can place a real trade with $10–$20. Contracts are priced in cents, so a $20 balance buys dozens of shares on a cheap market. Start small until you have seen a position settle.
