Federal judge blocks Minnesota prediction market ban before it takes effect
U.S. District Judge Katherine Menendez barred Minnesota from enforcing its new law against CFTC-designated exchanges while the case proceeds, finding the challengers likely to prevail at least in part.

CFTC sues Minnesota to block prediction market law
The CFTC filed a lawsuit seeking a preliminary injunction to stop Minnesota's prediction market prohibition from taking effect on August 1, 2026.

Minnesota governor signs SF 4760, making prediction market operation a felony
Governor Tim Walz signed the omnibus public safety bill SF 4760 (Chapter 97). One section makes it a felony to operate or advertise a prediction market as defined in the law, effective August 1, 2026. A federal court blocked enforcement in July 2026.
