Mid price — definition

The midpoint between the best bid and best ask — the standard reference price quoted in tickers and dashboards.

Mid price = (bid + ask) / 2. It's a fair estimate of the market's current view but not a price you can actually trade at.

Use mid price for headlines and charts. Use the actual bid/ask for sizing trades.
