The short answer

The four biggest conferences did not change for 2026: the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12 and ACC have the same members as in 2025. The Pac-12 did change, rebuilding to eight football teams. That matters to traders because a conference title contract only makes sense when you know which teams are in the race and how the champion is picked.

Where things stand

  • Power Four: no membership changes for 2026. The SEC has 16 football members, the Big Ten 18, the Big 12 16 and the ACC 17.
  • Pac-12: eight football members. Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State joined Oregon State and Washington State.
  • Title games: Friday, December 4 and Saturday, December 5, 2026. Every conference above decides its champion in a title game.
  • Kalshi listings: a championship winner market for each of the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, ACC and Pac-12, with one contract per member, plus title-game matchup and qualifier markets.
  • Polymarket US listings: an SEC championship winner market and an SEC title-game qualifier market were open when we checked.

Realignment is the reshuffling of schools between conferences. The big wave came in 2024. The 2026 changes are smaller and sit outside the Power Four, but they rebuilt one league from the ground up. Our college football prediction markets hub tracks the markets these changes feed into.

The Pac-12 line-up comes from the conference's own schedule release. The other rows come from ESPN's list of 2026 conference changes, dated August 14, 2026. Check a conference's own site before you trade its title market.

How does the rebuilt Pac-12 decide its champion?

  • League play: each team plays the other seven once, a seven-game round robin.
  • Who reaches the title game: the matchup is set after Week 12, which ends on November 21, 2026.
  • The Week 13 twist: on November 28 the eight teams play a "flex" game against a league opponent. The conference counts it as a non-conference game for the standings, so it does not change who plays for the title.
  • Title game: Friday, December 4, 2026, at the home stadium of the highest seed.

That is a different shape from a 16- or 18-team league, where teams miss many conference opponents and tiebreakers do more of the work.

Why does membership matter for a conference title contract?

  1. The size of the field. In an eight-team league each team starts with a larger share of the probability than in an 18-team league, all else equal.
  2. The schedule. New members change who plays whom, and how many strong opponents each team meets on the way to the title game.
  3. Head-to-head history. Past results inside a conference tell you less when six of eight members are new.

How do conference title contracts settle?

On the title game, not on the standings. Kalshi's SEC contract reads: the market resolves to Yes if the team "wins the 2026 College Football SEC Championship Game". Polymarket US's SEC contract settles to Yes if the team wins the 2026 SEC Football Championship Game scheduled for December 5, 2026. A team can finish first in the regular season and still settle at $0 if it loses that game.

Reaching the title game is a separate question. Both exchanges list "qualifier" markets that settle on which teams make the game, and Kalshi lists a market on the exact matchup. Read the rules on the contract you are buying.

Big 12Friday, December 4Arlington, Texas
ACCSaturday, December 5Charlotte, North Carolina
SECSaturday, December 5Atlanta, Georgia
Big TenSaturday, December 5Indianapolis, Indiana

The Pac-12 and ACC dates come from the conferences. The Big 12, SEC and Big Ten rows come from a published schedule listing, and dates can move.

How do you read a conference title price?

  • The price in cents is the implied chance. Example: a contract at 25 cents implies about a 25% chance and pays $1 if that team wins the title game. That is an example, not a current price.
  • Only one team can win, so the Yes prices of all teams in one conference should add up to roughly $1. If they add up to much more, the gaps between buyers and sellers are wide and trading costs more.
  • Head-to-head conference games in October and November decide who can still reach the title game, so expect prices to move around them.

Its help center lists moneyline, spread and total markets on college football, plus futures on some leagues, so confirm in the app that it lists the conference market you want. (per the partner's offer terms, checked October 14, 2026). Only filled trades that open a position at $0.80 or below count toward the $50. The $75 comes as three $25 installments: the first within 24 hours of qualifying, and the second and third on day 7 and day 14 only if the previous $25 was fully used on new positions at $0.80 or below. Otherwise they are forfeited. Offer terms apply.

The state counts are each partner's own, checked October 14, 2026.

ProphetX's minimum age is 18, or the local age of majority if higher. Kalshi's and Polymarket US's is 18. We recommend 21+. A title contract can settle at zero, so trade only money you can afford to lose. Our responsible trading page lists support resources for students.

Can you trade these contracts in your state?

It depends on the state and the platform. As of October 13, 2026, Kalshi's sports contracts are blocked by court order in three states: Nevada, Michigan and Washington. Elsewhere the law is unsettled. Federal appeals courts have split on sports event contracts: the Third Circuit sided with Kalshi on April 6, 2026, and the Ninth Circuit (August 28, 2026) and the Sixth Circuit (September 25, 2026) sided with the states. Kalshi asked the full Sixth Circuit to rehear the case on October 9, 2026; the court has not ruled. Three Supreme Court petitions (Nos. 26-299, 26-338 and 26-344) are pending and none has been granted. Where a platform still takes customers in a state with an open case, we call the status Available, dispute pending. The sign-up screen is the final word for your state.

Frequently asked questions

Did any Power Four school change conferences for 2026?

No. The SEC (16 football members), Big Ten (18), Big 12 (16) and ACC (17) have the same members in 2026 as in 2025.

Who is in the Pac-12 for the 2026 football season?

Eight schools: Oregon State, Washington State, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State.

When is the 2026 Pac-12 championship game?

Friday, December 4, 2026, at the home stadium of the highest seed. The matchup is set after Week 12, which ends on November 21.

How does a conference championship contract settle?

On the conference title game. Kalshi's and Polymarket US's SEC contracts settle to Yes only if the team wins the 2026 SEC Championship Game. Finishing first in the standings does not settle the contract.

How does realignment affect a conference title price?

It changes the number of teams in the race, the schedule each team plays and how useful past head-to-head results are. All three feed into each team's price.

How do I read a conference title price?

The price in cents is the implied chance. A contract at 25 cents implies about a 25% chance and pays $1 if it is right. The Yes prices of all teams in one conference should add up to roughly $1.
